Ceramic Coatings provide show and go.
Show:
Ceramic coatings provide a very durable, attractive finish for any metal surface, especially exhaust components. Headers, manifolds, and turbine housings look great when new, but the stock finish turns into an eyesore shortly after being put to use. This can detract from the aesthetic value of any engine bay. With RabidChimp.com, you have options. Coat your goods with Chromex, which has the appearance of polished aluminum (good to 1300F), or choose from a variety of satin finish colors (good to 2000F).
Go:
When ceramic coatings are applied to exhaust components, performance is increased. This is especially true with turbocharged vehicles, where power production is directly related to the turbo's ability to spool up. Ceramic coatings help keep the exhaust energy inside your manifold/header. This accomplishes two things: Your turbo spools faster, making more power, sooner. It also reduces underhood ambient air temperatures, allowing for cooler air intake. With ceramic coatings, its a win-win situation.
Coating Process:
All pieces are first sandblasted with garnet and walnut shell media inside and out to ensure the removal of any foreign matter that could impede proper application, and then re-blasted with aluminum oxide to give the surface the perfect tooth for the coating to adhere to. After your components are coated, they are oven-cured. Chromex-coated pieces are then placed in a vibrational polisher, until the finish is perfect.
