Second Generation Supra Cold Air Intake Installation Instructions
1. Remove the stock air box, and 45 degree AFM inlet elbow. You'll have to remove the air flow meter to undo the nuts on the backside of the stock air box. Toss the stock hose clamps that came on the elbow, since the kit comes with new stainless steel units. As an option, you can remove material from the air flow meter bracket, since some of it won't be necessary. The red line in the following image show where to cut:
Once you've made the cuts, apply some black paint to keep the rust gremlins away. When you're done, the bracket should look like this:
Now, you're going to cut some holes into your car, with a 3.5" hole saw. The first hole is very easy. Under the stock air box area, you'll find some wires. Move them out of the way to expose a threaded boss. This will be your pilot for the hole saw. Check out the pic:
Now, you've got another hole to cut. Jack the car up, secure it with jackstands. The second hole will be cut into the sheet metal directly in front of the front right tire. Turn the wheel completely to the right for access.
You'll have to trim the inner fender lining a bit to clear the hole saw. Drill a pilot hole according to the following picture:
Now, put that 3.5" hole saw back into action. Use the same black paint to cover up the raw metal from both of your new holes. After the paint dries, install the short sections of sliced silicone hose onto the edges of the new holes (you don't want to scratch your blingin' cold air intake, do you? Next, grab the longer of the two sections of piping, and install the end of the pipe marked "A" into the AEM bypass filter. Tighten the clamp. Next, move the metal power steering lines up and away from the first hole you cut. This needs to happen to clear the AEM bypass filter. Drop the open end of the pipe down into the upper hole, and through the lower hole. The AEM bypass filter should be sitting flush with the sheet metal. Make sure the upper hose clamp is facing the rear of the car, as shown in the first pic below:
Here's what you'll be seeing underneath:
Next, install the air flow meter and bracketry, using the factory mounting hardware. By now, the paint should be dry enough.
Grab the last piece of piping, and loosely install the factory AFM inlet elbow (with new stainless steel hose clamps) onto the end of the pipe marked "B". Now, loosely install the other end of the pipe into the AEM bypass filter, while sliding the factory AFM inlet elbow onto the AFM. You can make minor adjustments while the hose clamps are loose. Done adjusting? Tighten the hose clamps, and plug in your air flow meter.
Now for the final step. Install that air filter!
